Join the Effort to Bring the Lone Sailor Monument to Millington

Millington is preparing to make history this fall as the City of Millington and the Memphis Navy League break ground on the Lone Sailor Monument, a permanent tribute to the men and women of the Sea Services and our community’s proud naval heritage. Millington has been selected as only the 20th location in the world to host this prestigious monument, making it a landmark that will honor service, strengthen community pride, and attract visitors for years to come.

The Lone Sailor Monument Committee is now working to fund the bronze statue and is seeking support from the local business community. Sponsorship and naming opportunities are available for key monument features, offering businesses a chance to be part of this lasting legacy. Run Through History at the 2026 Navy Mid-South Half Marathon Weekend

Lace up your running shoes and mark your calendars for the 2026 Navy Mid-South Half Marathon Weekend, taking place September 26–27 in Millington. Hosted by Naval Support Activity Mid-South's MWR Department, this unique military-themed event features a flat, USA-certified course winding through the naval installation. It welcomes runners of all experience levels from across the Mid-South.
